Good News: Our power came back on this afternoon! Ten hours before the people at the power company said it would! :D

Bad News: Our power went out the night before last. Which means no AC. Which means it was SO HOT IN THIS GOSHDARNEDHOUSE.

But it’s better now, because the power’s back on. Everything is peaches and cream.

More good news: I get to celebrate a friend’s birthday tomorrow, so I’m super excited for that! Birthdays are excellent. And almost everyone has them during the summer, too! Mine is in twenty days, now that I think about it. I am starting the official countdownnow.

Hehe, I feel so giddy now.

We need to have ~~a party~~ SO MANY PARTIES! :3

I’m baaa~aaaaack.

We got home around 8:00 this morning.

We weresupposedto be back around 10:00 last night.

What actually happened was this:

We showed up at the Frankfurt airport just before noon
Our flight was scheduled to leave at 3pm (we were supposed to be there early to go through customs and security)
The guy at security told me I could leave my watch on, my watch set off the alarm on the full-body metal-detecting scanner, and an airport security lady felt me up with one of those baton-scanner-things (but this part was mostly irrelevent to the story)
We made it to our gate, had lunch, and boarded the plane just before 3:00
They pulled the plane away from the gate, then stopped
They told us they were having difficulty “starting the plane”
We waited on said plane for an hour or so while they tried to fix it
They tell us they have determined the problem is with engine 2, and they’re confident they can fix it
Then they tell us there’s another slight problem, because they need to have this paperwork signed before the plane can leave
They tell us that, because of legal reasons, the mechanic they have there at the Frankfurt airport can’t sign the papers
So they need tofly inanother mechanicfrom Paristo look at it, and sign off on the papers
At this point, they unloaded us from the plane and onto buses, which took us back to a different gate in the airport
They gave us some food vouchers for dinner in the airport
We waited there until 8:00, at which point they determined our flight wouldn’t be able to leave until 10:00 because of a thunderstorm
We got on the plane at 10:00, and took off around 11:00 (only eight hours after we were meant to leave - also, around the time we were supposed to be home already)
The first in-flight movie was Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, so that was cool (and I slept through the other two)
When were just finishing crossing the Atlantic, and nearing Canada, the pilot apologized for all the trouble we’d had with our flight
THEN they told us we wouldn’t be landing at the airport in Toronto
No, we’d be landing at Quebec International, because the flight crew had nearly reached their allowed time limit for this flight due to our “massive delay”
We land in Quebec, where they switch out the flight crew and refuel
We leave, again, and finally make it to Toronto International about an hour and a half later
We get our bags and the truck, and head for home
We discover thatall of the laneson the major highway between Toronto and Port Huron is closed for the night, so we have to find an alternative route out of Canada (perfect ending to a perfect day)

So, yes. This has been thetrip from hell.

On the bright side, I am going to kick jet-lags ass and get right back into as normal a sleeping schedule as possible.

Oh, and did I mention we had trouble on the flighttoFrankfurt as well. There was a bomb threat that morning, so they wouldn’t let us in the airport.

I am done with travelling for some time.
